Housing
6th Street Housing Programs are for Transition Age Youth (TAY) between 18-25 years of age that are experiencing homelessness and/or housing instability.
Our programs recognize that the path to independence may look different for each individual and services offered are tailored to each individual’s needs. At the cornerstone of our housing programs is the belief that through positive relationships with healthy adults and the opportunity to develop life skills, each young person is capable of developing a positive world-view, contributing to their community and achieving personal wellness.
Our objectives include:
Assisting TAY who are experiencing homelessness to get off the streets and into safe and stable housing.
Providing opportunities for TAY to learn and practice independent living skills in a supportive environment to prepare for self-sufficiency and independent living.
Transitional Housing
A short-term supportive housing option for TAY who are experiencing or at immediate risk of homelessness and are also living with mental illness. Youth may remain in the TAY Transitional Housing Program for up to 24 months during which time they will have access to both clinical and case management support. TAY Transitional Housing accommodates both individual and pregnant or parenting youth.
Master Lease Housing
Long-term supportive housing for individual TAY who are experiencing or at immediate risk of homelessness and are also living with mental illness. Youth remain in Master Lease Housing until they have achieved the life skills necessary for independent living with most youth graduating after approximately 2 years. Youth receive ongoing clinical and case management support.
Olive House
Provides housing for individual young women who are either working or attending an educational program. A live-in mentor provides support and models healthy independent living for Olive House participants.
